Dear Parents,
Welcome to our new school year. My name is Linda Uribe (pronounced Yoo-re-bay) and I am your child’s 2nd grade teacher. As your child’s educator I am committed to providing a safe, productive learning environment. As a parent you are instrumental in nurturing their academic, social and emotional development. By working together we can ensure a year of success for your child. Please remember that development and readiness for learning depend upon your child having adequate rest and nutrition. Also, asking your child about their day, checking their homework and listening to them read each day will directly impact their attitude toward school and learning.
Our PE program is also an important part of our curriculum and I ask that you make sure your child wears appropriate footwear. PE is Monday through Friday. Please no sandals, slip-ons, etc., particularly on these days. Thank you so much for your support with this matter. We will begin PE next week.
As a student in my class your child deserves the opportunity to achieve in an environment free from distractions. For this reason our classroom and playground expectations are of the utmost importance. Your child will be learning these expectations this week and reviewing them every week until the end of the school year. Please take some time to discuss the importance of classroom/school safety, responsibility and respect for themselves, others and property.
A list of essential supplies is available in the office. The list includes scissors, glue sticks and a small bottle of glue, thin dry erase markers, sharpened pencils, colored pencils, markers, crayons and an eraser. Labeling each item that your child brings/wears to school with their name will eliminate confusion. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
I will elaborate on my policies at Back to School Night. I look forward to meeting with each of you then.
